LARGO DAS ARTES: DAY 5

Today we had a meeting with Felippe Moraes the coordinator of Largo Lab. Felipe is full of stories to tell about his Umbanda religion and he will introduce us to the Carnival schools and tradition. Today I also experienced all three Brazilian cultures: African, Indigenous and
European/Portoguese.

I went to visit the International Museum of Naive Art of Brazil, I visited a baroque church and I had a glimpse of Indigenous religion Umbanda inside of a shops searching for seeds to add to my project.

The naive Museum is full of little treasures telling stories and meeting icons of Rio de Janeiro such as the statue of Jesus Christ, the soccer sport, and the Matisse saying that art is like a comfortable launch to rest.... It is a collection made by Lucien Finkelstein of 6 thousand artworks collected around one hundred countries!

Then I visited a church very close to Largo das Artes. Stunning decorative architecture and tiled floors with statues that seems to becoming alive at each moment you do a step and sacred heart everywhere....

Finally the Umbanda belief, a mix of Indigenous and Christian with lots of Saints that protect people... lagrimosa  seeds to do a rosary and pray with Virgin Mary and popcorn called Flor de Obaluae after the name of another African Saint covered by an orange fabric...
